We Are Kings and Priests Unto God!

According to the Bible—especially the book of Revelation—God has made us kings and priests unto our God and Father. This reveals the ultimate idea of God’s kingdom and what He intends to achieve in Christ, that is, to bring all things under Christ and to raise a people who embody kingship and priesthood.

In Revelation 1 and 5, as well as in 1 Peter 2, we see that God calls us a royal priesthood. His intent has always been to create a people who would serve Him as priests and reign with Him as kings.

In Exodus, God revealed His desire to make Israel a “kingdom of priests.” The idea didn’t begin in the New Testament.

God governs His kingdom through three main spiritual offices:

The King, who rules and brings God’s dominion.

The Priest, who ministers to God and teaches His ways to the people.

The Prophet, who speaks the mind and word of God to His people.

We’ll focus on the King and Priest, because Revelation emphasizes these two roles for all believers.

Now, in Hebrews 5, the priest offers gifts and sacrifices. He also teaches people how to walk in God’s ways. The priest carries the burden of spiritual truth, leading people into knowledge of God, worship, and obedience.

The king represents authority. He leads people in obeying the truth that the priest has revealed. The king enforces God’s will and rules according to His laws.

Jesus is our perfect example. He is both King of Kings and High Priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7).

Melchizedek, mentioned in Genesis and expounded upon in Hebrews, was both king and priest. Jesus fulfilled and embodied this dual role, and as members of His body, we share in that same anointing. We are His body, His bride, His expression. As he is, so are we in this world.

You are not ordinary. As a priest, God wants to teach you His ways through His Word, through His Spirit, and through spiritual leaders He places in your life. As a king, God has given you authority to bring His will and dominion into every area you influence.

We are to take hold of leadership, whether in homes, schools, communities, or in the nations, and represent integrity and godly leadership. We must influence policies, decisions, and culture with righteousness.

This is the way to extend heaven’s reality into earthly realms.

You must walk with this understanding. The more you walk in this identity, the more you will see God’s hand at work through your life. You will begin to see His kingdom come and His will be done wherever you are. I call you blessed, in Jesus’ name.
